Each May, The Detroit News partners with CATCH to recognize the extraordinary accomplishments of Michigan High School seniors in a variety of academic categories. Participating sponsors provide financial support for CATCH and the student in the form of scholarship assistance named after the sponsor.

A Prelude to CATCH's Annual Golf Classic the following day (see below), this party features a strolling dinner, an auction of coveted sports memorabilia and resort and golf getaways, and a chance to mix and mingle with a variety of Detroit's popular leaders and personalities. Tickets are available for just the party, and is included in all golf sponsorships.
Among the more than 50 items up for auction are: Jersey signed by the 2008 Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings; First-class roundtrip airfare to Las Vegas with three nights in a Bellagio suite, roundtrip airport limousine service, dinner and golf at Shadow Creek; Two tickets to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and two nights at the Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa in Pasadena; One week at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas; the Grand Del Mar in San Diego and/or The Aruban Resort and Casino at Eagle Beach in Aruba; Four weeklong ground tickets for the 2008 PGA Championship at Oakland Hills Country Club; Two nights with four rounds of golf at Treetops; Three nights at Shanty Creek with 16 rounds of golf; Tiger Stadium seats signed by Al Kaline and Willie Horton; Comerica Park suites for three different Tigers games in August.
Also up for bid will be sports memorabilia signed by Sparky, Curtis Granderson, Justin Verlander, Tayshaun Prince, Tomas Holmstrom, Calvin Johnson, Magglio Ordonez, Miguel Cabrera and many more.

The CATCH Golf Classic, voted "Michigan's Best", is attended by top executives from Detroit's leading corporations as well as many sports and media luminaries. The Golf Classic features a scramble format with a celebrity scheduled to participate with each group (fivesome), with shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
